I just want to say "Thanks!" to the Public Servants of Casper! I had a thrilling time being arrested for NOTHING AT ALL. I was sleeping with my youngest daughters at 9:30 on a Friday night, but I didnt know cops were allowed to serve warrants for things that happened 8 years ago, had been paid off (my parents, the ones that just paid half of my $1250 bond, were the ones that paid that fine for me, as I was living in Montana, and could not get my license until it was paid, so I sent them the money), was for a traffic accident, and I have a drivers license. I have been in contact with law enforcement for silly little things since then HERE, in CASPER. Telephone harassment (she deserved it, I just yelled at her because she got a gun pulled on the beast) that I went to court for, paid my fine for, and completed one year of unsupervised probation for. I have been pulled over for speeding here once since then, right after I moved back, almost 5 years ago. No warrant then. Nope. The warrant was signed March 23rd, 2012. No warning, no "lets get a letter out there and see if she would turn herself in", nope. Not at all.
This joke of a warrant said that they sent me to collections for my warrant. 1 thing here- If they sent it to collections, how are they legally able to put a warrant out for my arrest in the first place? 2- Why would they not issue a warrant for someones arrest for not paying fines years ago, instead wait 8? 3- How do they come up with this stuff? The warrant was issued the same exact date that I bought a car, and that kind of peaked my attention a bit. AND- It was already paid, but of course, after years of dealing with cops off and on, I threw the receipt out, or its been lost. Why would someone keep a receipt like that after 8 years, and no word or anything about it? OH! And no record, but my warrant says "cash only on account of a flight risk"? WHAT?! So- No bondsman. And of course, they did it on a friday night, thinking no one could get that kind of cash at night (little did they know my family loathes banks for the most part, heh heh).
Another thing- I know they have officers show up with warrant papers for people here. My mom used to get knocks all the time about my brothers warrants (at this same exact address). They serve you, and then go about their business. If you dont go to court, they issue the warrant.
And, other than the fact that the cops were the ones that had to take me to jail, they were pleasant, and I had no issues with them. They were even pretty much like "what?" about the whole thing. I will say that. The one that took me in even gave me and my beast a compliment. "You guys seem like really good people. Your husband seemed a little angry about it, but I cant say I would blame him. I would probably be the same way. Your kids are really sweet, by the way." He even let me smoke a cigarette before he took me away. I even told him the story about the beast. I also told him about my rebound relationship with a guy that couldnt pass the math test to be a cop. He thought that was funny. He was cool. Still, he coulda pretended no one was home considering that it was 9:30 at night.
I was totally confused as to what the hell it was about. I was almost in tears (imagine being arrested in front of your kids for NOTHING!), my kids were freaking out, and of course all my neighbors were watching. How frigging embarrassing. And here I am, having had to sit in a holding cell with some chic that was 36 and had a 21 year old daughter, that interrupted my nap. She was in there transporting for a suspended license ticket (and some other things too, probably. I didnt want to talk to her, I was trying to sleep! She just wouldnt shut up.). I was so happy I only had to deal with her for 20 minutes. Then she went to get food ("Im hypoglycemic!"), and so I tried to doze on the uncomfy, smelly green mat. With the wool blanket that had someone elses hair on it. It didnt have split ends that I could see, so I felt better. The moment the door opened for her to get back in, she yelled "Your out! I just heard em call you for release!" Thank you, Lord!
I will say another thing- This was the first time my parents ever bailed me out that I didnt get an ass chewing. The bondsman told them they do this kind of thing often. Forget you paid, set you up for cash only, and arrest you late at night on a weekend. That, and they remember paying the fine. I said "I'm sorry, but thanks so much!" I got a response that shocked me and my friend mandy that came to get me with my ma. "Dont be. You didnt do this." "Tell dad I said sorry." "NO! He told me to get you out, this wasnt your fault, and he is pissed at them, not you." HUH?! Really? "I have been with you when they have ran your name, you were clear until they saw that you had money. Thats it. The day they got your car paperwork, they did this. Someone is up to something." Who knows. My mom always says one thing to me- "You and your brother- Just because your paranoid dont mean their not after you!" Thats Kurt Cobain, BTW. My ma knows Nirvana because of us!
Sorry, Seriously thinking of calling a lawyer.
